But nothing could be further from the truth, if only you do it sensibly. Orange Business Metaverse is a groundbreaking tool that presents Orange Polska’s services, fully utilizing the latest achievements in VR technology and moving beyond boring PowerPoint presentations at meetings.

The aim of the Orange Business Metaverse is to present the comprehensive business offering of Orange Polska in an innovative and multisensory way through VR. The target audience includes companies and local government institutions seeking new solutions for their business. The interactive metaversal spaces host commercial presentations of services such as the 5G campus network in a virtual factory-logistics space and Smart City in a virtual urban space. This allows clients to easily understand the comprehensive offering and quickly assess its potential. The solution fits into compact VR goggles that can be taken to meetings or used for virtual meetings with clients, regardless of their location. This is the first such implementation by Orange in the world, developed in partnership with Connected Realities. You need to see it for yourself.

The challenge

Orange Polska has an extensive business offering that enables digital transformation of companies and local government institutions in a comprehensive manner. Explaining the technological side as well as the complexity of solutions such as 5G campus networks or SmartCity is challenging. Therefore, educating clients about the possibilities offered to them and the benefits for their companies and organizations is essential in this process. Standard equipment for salespeople offering services includes PowerPoint presentations, catalogs, photos, or videos. Such meetings require time, patience, and the client’s focused attention as well as their availability for the meeting itself. The challenge was to create a solution that breaks market patterns and allows clients to easily understand the full offer of Orange Polska and to assess its potential more quickly. The solution should be easy to operate for salespeople and be mobile. It is also important to distinguish the Orange Polska brand and services as a leader in digital transformation in the market.

Idea description

The idea was to create a virtual space that engages in demonstrating advanced technological solutions, allowing clients to understand and evaluate their potential in the context of real business applications. For the commercial presentation of Smart City solutions, an interactive, virtual model of a typical city has been created, which in real time demonstrates the impact of comprehensive city management using 5G. In the virtual factory-logistics space, it is possible to test the operation of 5G campus networks, monitoring using artificial intelligence, or the operation of robots and drones. Everything fits into compact VR goggles, which can be taken to a meeting or used for virtual meetings with clients, regardless of their location.

Implementation

Orange Business Metaverse is a metaverse solution designed from scratch and programmed to enable multi-participant meetings and multisensory presentation of Orange’s offer. Using VR goggles, guests join the meeting, regardless of their physical location. They see each other as personalized avatars. They can move and communicate verbally by interacting with the digital space and the attractions prepared for them. Up to 30 people can participate in the meeting. The meeting leader has the authority to manage and move guests between virtual spaces related to the offer. They can activate interactive elements of three-dimensional presentations according to the preferred scenario of the meeting. Each space has its own unique visual features, interactions, animations, and sound. The entire metaverse concept has a consistent architecture of virtual locations, which have been specially designed with branding elements. The solution is based on secure connections between users and server infrastructure. Advanced analytics allow detailed measurements of the effectiveness of the use of VR spaces by the host and guests for further development.

Results

The investment in Orange Business Metaverse marks the start of broad activities developing metaverse competencies within the Orange Polska Group. A new business line for building such solutions for other companies and Industry 4.0 is planned as part of the so-called Metaverse Competence Center. Training sessions are held for employees and salespeople on how to handle VR and conduct meetings using the Orange Business Metaverse. The goal is to systematically increase the number of commercial meetings in VR, continuously measure their effectiveness, and thus improve the solution. The project is spread over years. The metaversal space will also be used to conduct research work as part of Orange Innovation, which will help develop its own technological products using VR. It is worth noting that this is the first such investment by Orange in the world, and the initiative originated from Orange Polska, opening a new era of digital presentation of business services of this company.

The entire project was presented at the largest technology fair in Europe, VivaTech 2024.
